This month I experimented with several different animation programs by making basic cinemagraphs. I used Photoshop, After effects, Flash, and the cinemagraph app.
Photoshop.
After Effects.
Flash.
App.
The tutorials for each of these are farther down the blog.
This coming Monday I am going to be going back to Godot.

cinamagraph final
the last way to create a cinimagraph I am going to go over is the cinimagraph app.
This by far is the simplest program to make a cinimagraph on you simply take a 15 second video of anything on the camera and shade out the part you want moving.
The outline around were the motion ends but with a steadier hand the proper effect can be achieved.
The program does not allow you to upload videos it just allows you to take your own.
tomorrow I will be finishing the month with a summary and moving on to greener pastures.

Flash
continuing on the tutorial.
Here is the GIF on breaking and deleting.
Today all that is left is to finish up. Once you are finished deleting useless parts export the photos and load them in to Photoshop. You may need to adjust them.
After simply export for web as a GIF.
Final GIF.
Tomorrow I will be doing some research on other forms of easy animation.

flash found
Today I did more investigating and with some outside help I managed to discover what needed to be done.
Firstly after some more internet research we discovered that in order to edit the program the video needed to be broken up into a series of pictures. This we did on Photoshop by loading in the video and rendering it as a Image sequence.
To open the images on flash I imported to the stage by clicking only the first picture in the sequence then the program opened up a menu and did the rest.

Now to isolate the proper area I need to firstly create a workable back ground. I did this by copying the scene into Photoshop and using the lasso tool to remove the man from the shot using the content aware feature.
I then pasted the picture back into Flash in a new layer below the previous one.
Now to create the cinimagraph I needed to break up the image with Ctrl-B and use the free transform tool to select unwanted parts to delete leaving a box around the movement area.
Tomorrow I am going to finish the cinimagraph and hopefully get the proper GIF for the last point.

flash
Today I am trying to work on my flash cinimagraph.
But the video will not play even tough I followed a the proper steps.
The GIF app I used also changed so I had to figure that out as well.
I have come up with what I believe is a solution after importing a new video a few times. I changed the setting to impeded video.
After this I was faced with the new problem of trying to cut or shorten the video. attempts to solve this problem on my own have proven ineffective so I decided to look on the web but my search uncovered nothing.
tomorrow I am going to seek out side help and hopefully complete the project.

Flash
Today I am experimenting with the video editing features of flash in hopes to develop a cinemagraph.
First I attempted the load in a video but the program seems to only take a certain type of file. so I conducted an experiment using several different types of video formats.

The 3g2.
The avi.
The flv.
The mp4.
The mpeg.
The swf.
The wmv.
As you can see only the swf worked. but once dragged onto the stage the video seems non-existent.
Problem Identified.
I knotted that when I was importing that the Import video option was unavailable.
Then I saw that ate the top my title was labeled after as canvas.
I then created a new document using action script.
The new action script document only allows flv and embedded h264 files.
After the break I am going to continue to work with flash.

Cinemagraph reaserch
Today I am going to do research and download a copy of Adobe animate.
The internet does not have any tutorials on making an cinemagraph in animate so I am going to try to figure it out on my own as well as asking Mr. Bilesky for help. Once I get a hold of a copy.
Getting the copy took most of the class but now that I have it I am going to give it a try.
Now I am going follow the instructions that Mr.Bilesky gave me on deleting the back ground out of the loaded video.
Tomorrow I am going to explore more in to the program.

tutorial continued.
I am now going to continue were I last left off In the tutorial.
Now that you have your two scenes with one frozen and one encircled you are going to play the video and edit your circle if needed.
(Once finished editing) The next step is to export your project as a video. Do this by going to file>export>add to render queue.

Next simple go to your render queue decide were to save it to and export it.
To turn it in to a GIF first load the video in to Photoshop and make sure you check the box LOOP PLAYBACK.
Then file>export> save for web as a GIF. (make sure to set looping options to forever.
Now you have a very basic repeating cinemagraph made on after effects.

after effects error
Today I was going to continue the tutorial but my after effects document is having some serious problems.
Everything is black.
The video even renders black.
First I tried to research the problem but nothing helped, then I tried to delete the layers I had and start over but it stayed black. Now I am going to get a completely different video.
Initially the new video worked.
After a quick save I closed and opened it again and it was not black.
Tomorrow I will hopefully be finishing the tutorial.

After effects tutorial.
Today I am going to walk through how to make a cinemagraph on after effects.
First step is to load your video into after effects and find the scene or time you wish to make a cinemagraph out of.
Next isolate it.
Now that it scene is isolated use the pen tool to encircle the part of the scene you want to move or do not want to move.
Next load in the same video again.
You will now choose to ether freeze the encircled video or the newly loaded one. Ether way one must be frozen based on your goal.
The rest of the tutorial will be finished tomorrow.
